Honey Ceremony | North Carolina Wedding Planner

It seems like every couple is searching for the perfect way to make their ceremony unique. The unity candle used to be the perfect way to do that, but as more and more couples used that the “newness” has worn off. The sand ceremony seemed like the perfect solution for awhile but even that has lost some of it’s “uniqueness”.

So what can you do? How about a honey ceremony? I’m sure you thinking, “Well, what is a honey ceremony?” Well I’ll tell you.

During the ceremony you will have a small bottle of locally produced honey for you and your love to each dip a finger into. You are each invited to taste the sweetness of the honey. This is to symbolize that you vow to be sweet to each other every day of your marriage. This would be a great way to help customize your vows and pledge a love that is as sweet as honey.

And to tie it all in, you could give local honey products for your favors. What a great way for your guests to take home a piece of your wedding.

You could also incorporate this into your anniversary and share a taste of the same locally produced honey every year to renew your promise and remember your vows with your partner each year.

Here are a few tips for planning your own honey ceremony:

1. Avoid sticky fingers – have small spoons to taste the honey instead of dipping your fingers

2. If you’re having a destination wedding, remember to provide favors smaller than the required size for airline carry-on baggage.

3. Be sure to talk to your Officiant about the honey ceremony. They may even have a few ideas to help personalize it even more.
